Lecture 1: "The God who Beckons"
In the God who beckons we find that evolution puts and entirely new face on God.  To deal with new questions and explore the answers, joan considers five major dimensions of the God-question -- the answers to which show us a God we can believe in more than mythologize, hope in more than doubt, trust in more than fear.

Lecture 2: "The Divine Feminine: the Foundation of the Abrahamic World"
Sister Joan will explore four questions which include:  Where does the subject of the Divine Feminine come from? Why is it important for us to consider it today?

Saturday, October 9 at 11:15am to 12:00 noon
Discussion Session 1: Sr. Joan will field questions from her books.  Her two most recent are:  Gifts of Years and Uncommon Gratitude.

Saturday, October 9 at 1:30 to 3:00pm
Discussion Session 2:  Sr. Joan will again open up the floor to discussion of ideas from her published works as well as points raised in her lectures.

Sunday, October 10 to 9:30am
Continental breakfast followed by Panel Discussion in Fellowship Hall.  A panel of clergy and college professors will share their reflectsion of Sr. Joan's lectures and engage those in attendance in discussion.

Joan Chittister is an internationally known writer and lecturer and the executive director of Benetvision, a resource and research center for contemporary spirtuality.  She currently serves as the co-chair of the Global Peace Initiative of Women, a partner organization of the United Nations, facilitating a worldwide network of women peace builders, particularly for Israel and Palestine.  She has written more than 40 books and received numerous awards for her work on behalf of peace and women in church and in society.  A Benedictine Sister of Erie, Pennsylvania, she served as president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious president of the Conference of American Benedictine Prioresses, and was prioress of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie for 12 eyars.  Sister Joan received her doctorate from Penn State University in speech communications theory.
